OK, I am hurting on a decision here....I'm completely torn...I'm losing sleep!!! (ok, not really....but it's a tough decision and I need some resident audioholics to help me with what they perceive to be the better way to go.)

I want to upgrade my left and right speakers - currently I am using the Polk Audio RM6750 speakers and I've been very happy with them.

But now it's time to grow.
So here are my options:

The BIC America Venturi Series DV64 Floor Towers

Or the Polk Audio 2-Way Monitor Series 50 Floor Towers

Ok, guys...please, edu-macate me! :D

Since you've got a sub-sat setup, any speakers you add to it won't sonically match. Some people don't care about that and others do. I guess it depends on personal preference.

For the money, you're better off going with a Fluance AVHTB+ Surround Sound Home Theater 5 Speaker System for $199 since you already have a subwoofer...that way you'll have a sonically matched setup

Or you can just buy the towers for $149:

If you're willing to spend more, TSC's TST2 tower speakers have been given a good review here.

The BIC DV-64/84 looks "old school" and makes me nostalgic of speakers from the 80s. I'm sure it has decent imaging and lots of bass (can be muddy for some). They're probably a decent budget speaker overall.

From what I recall of listening to Polk towers at places like Good Guys and Circuit City, they sounded decent to me too. The technology in the Monitor 50 is probably at least 10 years old and that's why they can be had for around $250 a pair. I guess if you went with these, you'd still have all Polk speakers.

two of the BIC 6.5" speakers are "passive radiators" - in another word, for looks. I have had very good luck with the entry level Polk towers, R30, R50, and M50. So, my personal opinion is go with with Monitor 50's.

(NOTE) the cherry veneer model has a $20 off coupon until 6/1/09 - great deal !

BUT, for the extra $30 each, I would get the Monitor 60's

if you are the least bit concerned about "timbre matching" the front 3, then consider the Polk CS1 or CS2 center channel speaker, also from Newegg

Gonna stick with the Polks - they should be here tomorrow and I'll give an update on how they sound. Thanks for all the input everyone! Those Fluance might be my next purchase, since I'm looking into another receiver. :D
