listening to my music from my mac through my audio engine a5 and there is alot of static unplug the aux cable from the computer and plug into my ipod and the static goes away... anybody know why this is happening?

Have you tried pluggin something else in to the mac, such as headphones, to see if the static persists? That would be an easy way to isolate the problem with the Mac.

Sounds like it might be a bad jack on the mac. I know you mentioned that plugging into the ipod clears up the problem, but have you tried a different cable? Cables are the most common problem, and are a cheap fix.

symptom still remains when headphones are plugged in and switching out the aux cable did nothing. starting to think it is my mac
