Help Please!

Ok so i have an ONKYO 7.1 surround sound system . when i watch dvds the background music is louder than the dialouge when i have it on dolby mode, or any other mode other than stereo. And i get sound from my tv and surround sound speakers, so i have to turn the tv sound down. however it works fine when i play my xbox 360. can someone please help me fix this, im sure its easy but i just dont know how to do it.

Which Onkyo system do you own? If it has an auto set-up routine, have you run that? That might help with getting the speaker levels set correctly, and that could certainly help with the dialogue issue that you mentioned.

When you say that you get sound from your TV and surround sound speakers, do you mean that you have sound coming from the TV speakers at the same time as the Onkyo system? If so, do you want that (I wouldn't)? If that is the case and you don't want that, and you don't know how to fix that, just let us know which TV you have and we can look it up.

ya i dont want sound coming from my tv when i watch a dvd, it doesnt happen when i play my xbox tho, only on dvds. I have a SONY Bravia KDL- 52w4100 and ONKYO HT-R560
