Hi, just bought a RX-V3800 Amp/Rec. and Energy C-500 Series Tower Speakers and I need a little help in setting these up. Kind of a noob but am familiar with electronics in general. The speakers is not the problem, I got them hooked up with ease and working beautifully. However my 4 HDMI Inputs I can't seem to be able to select which input. Right now I have my setup like this, HDMI inputs for DVD Player, XBOX 360 Elite, and a DVI to HDMI for my computer all going to the receiver and HDMI Out from the receiver to my 46" LCD Sharp Aquos. Out of the 4 HDMI inputs I can only seem to get my Philips DVD player working without any problems. Also on the proper video selection for my TV which is Video 5, other than the DVD players video, I can always see the Yamaha RX-V3800's wallpaper.

Am I missing something during the setup process or something through the menu selection? If I have my XBOX 360 Elite plugged into the amps HDMI input #1 which in my case is labeled as "BD/HD DVD" would the RX-V3800 automatically detect the source or would I have to manually select the BD/HD DVD source on the receiver itself? I believe I tried this already by cycling through all the inputs on the receiver and, nothing.

Please teach this noob something.

Thanks,
Andy

You need to assign each HDMI input, for instance if your Xbox 360 is plugged into HDMI port 2, you need to assign that to whatever input you want to use it for, like DVR, VCR, HDDVD/Blu Ray, DVD, etc. the auto detect I believe is for audio. You can also rename each input so the receiver will display whatever name you give it, and you can rename the inputs on the remote as well. Just read through the manual and it should explain everything. Those yamaha receivers are pretty easy to set up.
