Here is my issue. I am running a Sony LCD TV, a Bose 321 system, and my cable box which is made by Motorola. I have been have audio issues. The cable company says the way it is setup, the audio will fight eachother and have no sound. Here is my set up, HDMI from cable box to TV, Optical cable from cable box to Bose. Is this correct? Should this work?
Turn down volume in TV and it should work. TV for video and Bose for audio.
I can't see this is anissue unless the cable box itself has limitations of providing both HDMI ( audio and video) and audio via optical simutaneously.
Just to make sure, try connecting TV via component and Bose via optical.
Is there any setup with your Motorola cable box, example video via HDMI, audio via HDMI or component?
A normal way to connect with a repeating HDMI AVR is to connect first to AVR via HDMI and then from AVR to TV via HDMI for video. I am assuming the Bose 321 does not have HDMI repeating or maybe not even HDMI connection.
When the HDMI is not repeating you typically connect the way you have setup. HDMI to TV and optical or discrete 5.1 or 7.1 to AVR -- or --- HDMI to AVR and component to TV
Peace, Good Luck, Good Video and Good Sound,
