I'm retired on a limited budget. My HT system uses the Onkyo TX-SR608 receiver with DVD, CD, Satellite Box all hooked up via HDMI to a Samsung 120Hz, 1080p TV. My room configuration -- open in the back and left side with 10' ceiling -- makes standing or bookshelf speakers for surrounds and rears in a 7.1 setup impossible. For that reason I am having ceiling speakers installed. My fronts are Polk Audio Monitor 30's, CS1 center and an even older PSW10 Sub -- the fronts and centers are 55Hz-25kHz overall frequency response and the sub is 35Hz-200Hz with a crossover frequency of 80Hz-160Hz. I was looking at installing Polk SC80-IPR aimable surrounds (35kHZ-20kHz) and Polk SC-60 rears (40Hz-20kHz). One guy who quoted the installation quoted comparable pricing on MTX CT825AC and CT625AC ceiling speakers with comparable specs. Another installer told me the 35-40Hz to 20-24kHz frequency response speakers would not be a good match for my existing fronts and center. I'm not knowledgable about these specs. Is what I'm considering a good match for my existing fronts/center? Does anybody have experience with MTX speakers for other than a car? Are they comparable to Polk? Many thanks for any help you can provide.
