Let me ask a question. Is there any way that you can post a picture of this Comp C8 set up [also showing the sub out that you referred to]? May be if we saw a picture, we may be able to either brainstorm a work around or just say 'no, it can't be done'. Audiophiles, put away your snob and let's see if we can help this guy out.

Some of us have enough experience to be able to diagnose the situation from the meager information supplied and provide the appropriate answer. Plus, this is far from the first time this scenario has popped up here.

But, if you can find a way around an amp and power supply (either internal or external), feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

...and DON"T call us audiophiles.

What does the sub output on the receiver look like?

Is it speaker terminals? If so, you might have a fighting chance, but car subs are different animals from home subs. The enclosures are totally different.

If not, nothing changes.

Just tell use what it is. Is it speaker terminals or an RCA Plug?

An RCA plug is a round hole that looks kinda like a 1/4" "outie" belly button with a hole in the middle.

Well, we tried.

RCA........ could i just hook them up to the normal speaker terminals?
But, no, you need an amp, and a power supply for that amp.

On the plus side, your communication skills have improved tremendously. :D

Maybe that other guy will have another solution.

What would happen if i did hook it up to the terminals
What terminals to what?

You could hook those "raw" drivers to speaker terminals but they will sound like arse. Along with that amp and power supply, youll now need a crossover! ...and you won't be getting the subwoofer signal.

We're pretty much done here. Cya later,

You need a 120V AC to 12V DC power converter to power your car's subwoofer amplifier. You need a Y adapter to hook up from the subwoofer output on your home receiver to the RCA inputs on your car's subwoofer amplifier. Hopefully your car audio amplifier has a built in crossover. Your subs are only rated for 50-100W RMS so I don't think you need any super high-power handling converter or anything.

Some home preamps/receivers don't have trigger outputs that you could hook up to the remote on... if you don't have this the amplifier will remain powered on all the time unless you unplug it.

As Mark said, it will probably sound poor because the enclosures are designed for a car... a much smaller volume of space.

Unplug this when you're not using it if you're not really confident in your abilities. I'd hate for you to have a fire or something while your sleeping.
