Help Me Pick An Atmos Ready Reciever

I am looking to upgrade my home theater to Atmos. Since I am running all Aperion speakers I have decided to use there Intimus L6-IC two-way speakers with aimmable tweeters. I will be utilizing a 7.2.4 configuration and need to replace my Marantz SR-6007. I currently use an Emotiva XPA-3 for the front soundstage, so I think a receiver with a 9.2 channel amp and 11.2 processing is all I need. My budget for the receiver is around $2500 but it does not look like I will need to spend that much. It appears that the Marantz SR-6012 with 110w/channel would do the job. I have a 21x19x8 dedicated HT room. I have also been looking at Denon and Yamaha among others. A receiver that has Audyssey XT32 is a big plus. All the Aperion speakers have a sensitivity of 85 to 92db. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Current Equipment
Marantz SR-6007
Emotiva XPA-3
Oppo BDP-103
Aperion Verus Grand Towers and Center
Aperion Forte Satellites
Two HSU VTF 15H MK2

Denon 6300H gets my vote. With LCR off loaded to the Emotiva, it will easily drive the remaining channels.

That Denon model looks great but why do I need the extra channels? Seems like a waste of amplification. Do you prefer Denon over Marantz? Any other reasons why you would go with this model?

Extra amps? You got 11 speakers to amplify, the AVR has 11 amps. The unused LCR amps can't be "moved" to other channels. By using the Emotiva you'll mainly ensure the LCR are never starved. The secondary benefit is that it free up power reserves to the remaining channels.

I prefer Denon over Marantz because of better price to features. The internals are nearly identical until you look at the top of line.

Got it! Sorry for my ignorance. For some reason, I got caught up in thinking that I just needed to drive 8 more channels since I was already driving three with the Emotiva. Thanks for your input.

OTOH you could look at the Denon 4300, good sale prices on it now, too.

Only way the 4300H (9 internal amps) will work is to use the existing Emotiva to power 2 height channels (IMO, a waste) or use the Emotiva for LCR and get an additional 2 channel amp for heights.

But given the prices for some of the two channel amps, that's probably a better deal than going to the 6300...

Didn't say it wouldn't need additional amps....would make more room for spending on them, tho.
