help me choose a dvd player

I would like to buy a new dvd player in the 1k price range. I would like to have one that plays sacd,audio cd,and dvd. It needs to play just about anything else I throw at it. I would like it to have a pretty good upscaler. One that has good reviews and good quality video. Is this wishfull thinking or can anybody recomend a good one to check out. I guess it's kind of fun to read a lot and find the best for my money, but you guys could probably send me in a better direction to save me some research.

isnt it a bad time to buy a dvd player because the high def players are coming out???

I guess it may be. If I'm going to spend that much money should I wait to buy it for the high def reason.

Do you have to spend the whole grand? I doubt there would be much if any audio or video improvement beyond the Denon 1920. Diminishing returns kicks in real quickly on DVD players IMO. $349 from Crutchfield, you probably can find it for less elsewhere.
