The Denon DL-110 cartridge is actually one of the best cartridges for accuracy; and it has much lower noise and lower distortion than most cartridges anywhere near it's price range. The stylus is of the grade only found on carts costing far more, according to 3rd party cartridge experts. I have measured this cartridge's response characteristics, and I can confirm it is of a fantastic value. It really is of the performance required for expensive/accurate turntable/arm sets. It is $140 USD. If that is too much, the lowest price cartridge I recommend is the Audio Technica 440MLA. It is about $80-$90 USD. It has higher noise floor, a slightly raised treble band, and a lower quality stylus than the Denon, but it's still a very good cartridge.
The Music Hall MMF PHono Pack phono preamp has fantastic signal to noise ratio and very accurate RIAA curve, and has various loading options. It's better to just get a high performance stand alone pre-amp for the turntable. This lets you have a far greater selection of receivers to choose from, and just feed the phono pre-amp output to any normal line level input on the receiver. BTW, if you are going for a specific two channel system, it may be better to go with a stand along amp and pre-amp set up, because you have many more future options available for enhancing sound quality. A receiver is usually a problem, as it usually does not let you connect hardware between the preamp section and amp section, which you will want to do in the future if maximum sound quality is your objective.
These above items are suitable, really, to very high performance turntables and stereo systems(the AT cart is a compromise), based on actual measured performance. The TT you have purchased is an okay entry level table, but if you can still return it(did gift giver provide the receipt?), you can get better performance for less, by looking for specific models that are used but in excellent condition on eBay. I can specify models and provide other advice relevant for eBay purchasing of turn tables, if you so desire.
