Help connecting pre amp to a Integrated split amp

Hello !
I have some hard time connecting a new amp to the system.
the Amp is Sony TA5650 VFT, this is a integrated amp , attaching a picture .
and the preamp is realistic realistic 42 2109 pre amp ( this pre amp does not have controls ,no on/ off switch/ volume control)

when I'm connecting the pre amp using this way ( from Phone 1 to pre amp > from pre amp to turntable ) I hear a very strange sound, definitely stronger volume but the bass feels overwhelming and not very clear. later on I discovered in the back on the Amp I have a another option ( PRE OUT / POWER IN ) and have 2 jumpers connected. I tried to follow some videos online and connect in various ways and I was able to connect the pre amp, the sound is definitely better and more clear, but I can not change the volume ! when I spin the knob on the amp it does not change anything and its VERY LOUD .

I would love to hear what you guys think, what might be the issue and what I'm missing ?

Thanks !

What turntable and cartridge are you connecting to the Realistic phono stage? It appears the Sony Integrated amp already has a built in phono stage so the Realistic appears to be superfluous.

Hey, this is a very simple turntable,Technics SL-BD20 with Technics P24.
I've always heard an separate phono stage improving the sound quality .

Technics P24 is just a stylus for a cartridge EPC-24? Separate phono stage is one thing, duplicating them another (due the RIAA correction eq going on as well as signal boost)....if you want to use the Realistic use another line input on your integrated amp other than the designated phono input (which has its own phono stage/pre-amp).

Oh and when you used the pre-out / main-in option you'd need an actual pre-amp that provides volume control (rather than a specialized phono pre-amp which ihe s a different entity). I'd just try the phono input on the integrated amp and avoid the Realistic phono stage personally.

So as per as the connection, turntable > pre amp > (aux 2) on the amplifier . I tried it it's working, sound finds but can't tell there is any difference , very similar to just connecting the turntable to the phono.

Attaching a picture of the cartridge.

If both phono stages (external vs internal) are decent, there should be no difference. If you get really anal/OCD about your vinyl setup then sometimes folk spend thousands on the phono stage for adjustment of minutiae. I'd use the minimal connection and avoid the Realistic. Don't believe everything excited boys talk about their audio gear....

ps For that matter why are you bothering with vinyl?
