Help choosing subwoofer for my system.

Hi people!
I'm finally looking for a system upgrade in my 5.0, so i was checking my subwoofer options.

At the present time the system is:
Front: Infinity primus 363
Center: Infinity pc351
Surround: Infinity p153
Receiver: yamaha rx-v775
The current room is about 4m*3m (13*10 feet) but i'm soon moving to a larger room 7.2m*5.4m (23.5*17.5 feet)

It is for being used in: Movies>Games>Music, in that order.

So finally my options are (prices from Argentina):

*PS 410 INFINITY us$ 917
*JBL ES 250 P us$ 1011
*Infinity SUB PS312 us$ 1035
*Polkaudio DSW Pro 660 us$ 1135
*Paradigm DSP3100 us$ 1330
*Polkaudio PSW 1000 us$ 1470
*Polkaudio DSW Micro Pro 2000 us$ 1530
*JBL PBK550 us$ 1647
*Paradigm Monitor SUB10 us$ 1947

Note: If i choose one with a price below us$ 1150, i can buy 2 for a dual sub config.

I've been told to look for a 12" sub with the lowest freq response posible, something like 20hz. That way i wouldn't miss any sound effect from movies.

Thanks in advance!!!

Ouch. Not a great selection to choose from. If it were me, I would probably go with the Infinity PS312 sub.

I would check with SVSound and see if they have a distributor in Argentina.

That's what you get when you live here :( .
A dual infinity ps312 configuration would be worth? Or just one?

I've already checked:
International Sales - SVS
Some retailers offer to bring me SVS, but the final cost with shipping and taxes goes to something around us$2560 (PB-1000), more than i can afford. (Plus 45 days of waiting)
That's why i'm trying to stick to this options.

Thanks for replying guys!

I would get two subs if possible. Place them in spots which results in the flattest frequency response at your listening position. Read through this to get the most out of a dual sub setup.

Click on "the list" in this thread. You might be able to cross reference your list and find a couple of the better performers.

Yes, i read it. That's why i was thinking in 2 sub.

But i'm still having a hard time choosing the sub.
Checking specs i've seen that some of polks models have 20hz in the lower freq  . But they're 10" and too expensive to buy 2..

Day pay attention to the stated specs on any of those subs, they don't mean very much. A 10" woofer will not dig to 20 Hz unless its in a lot larger enclosure than any of those. The DSW Pro 660 might not be awful, and the PSW might have passable performance. The one that digs the deepest is likely the Paradigm. However the price/performance that you are getting over there in Argentina is depressing, no offense. If you can do woodwork or know someone who can make a cabinet, you really ought to consider making the sub yourself. The value is so much higher.

Great list, thanks! But the models i look for are not there :(

I shall then discard the 10" models, except may be for the polk psw 1000, that declares Dual 10 Inch and 20hz.

They're now offering klipsch, sw110 (us$1176) and sw112 (us$1611). Any thoughts about them?

Thanks guys!

The Polk PSW can declare a 20 Hz capability, but it could never actually achieve it. As for the Klipsch subs, the SW112 might not be terrible. These prices, on the other hand, are terrible for what you are getting, as you know. I realize that Argentina is very far south, but I can't believe all that markup is from shipping alone. Is thee some kind of crazy import fee you have to deal with?

Exactly, shipping is not the big deal, there are a couple of import fees, taxes, even some crazy random locks and blocking to the products.
Crappy place to be.
Anyways, can we say that my best option is the SW112? It's expensive but in the future i could upgrade with a second one.

Of your choices I would go with the sw112 and get another when u can in the future. I'm currently debating my sub upgrade and I do want to have dual subs but I don't like doing things twice. That being said instead of buying 2 smaller cheaper subs I'm going to buy one bigger one now and get a second when the funds allow. That's my 2 cents :)

Agreed with jkgsxr, SW112 may be the best from your choices. I recommend you look into a DIY subwoofer project though, you can end up with a way better sub for the same amount of cash.

I agree with shady. If you can get access to a good DIY you could really save a lot of money and get better performance.

Klipsch is out off the list, they offered me but they don't have stock..
We're back to the start! f*ck..

Thanks for the advices, guys, but i don't really have the knowledge or the tools to make one nice DIY sub. Even if i had, I only know people who sells parts to make car subwoofers..

I'm getting a nice discount in the Polkaudio DSW Pro 660, seems to be a good options, but i can't find many reviews of it.
On the other hand, there is some guy who's selling one paradigm dsp3200, i have to check that too.
Any opinions will be welcome as always. :D

I'd go for the Paradigm DSP 3200. Paradigm makes good subs, although they tend to be on the expensive side. I'm guessing the 3200 will beat the Polk pretty easily.

Out of stock with the paradigm dsp 3200, it's like a joke, this sellers have no idea what they're offering.

There's still the chance of getting the paradigm dsp 3100, (specs: 10", 24 Hz - 200 Hz). What do you think? Or should i wait a better 12" option?

Other options: Tannoy - TS2.10 (us$1600) / Monitor Audio - Bronze BXW10 (us$1480)
Thanks!

I would try to go for something that has a 12" woofer. I would skip the Tannoy and Monitor Audio subs. If you were going to settle for a 10" sub, the Paradigm 3100 would be my choice.
