Help choosing HTIB

I need a little help choosing one of these HTIBs. How to tell which is the best of the lot. I have 2 sources - DVD & HD Rec/PVR.

Do you have to do HTIB? You can obtain much better sound quality with separate components. What budget are you working with? Any restrictions?

I was looking at about $500. Those HTIBs are on sale .

The Yamaha YHT9505XM seems like a good receiver - 90Wx6 , powered sub, optical and lots of inputs at the back. But the total power is only 540 compared to the 1000/1200 for the other two receivers.

Separate components would be sweet. The problem is knowing what to look for in a receiver and speakers.

Are you going for 5.1 and a reciever? Like mazersteven said if you can do seperates you will be more satisfied I think. I just upgraded from a htib to a polk system with a H/K avr and only broke the bank for 470. I added a Bic H-100 sub but there are cheaper subs out there that will work. So I'd say if you could raise the budget by $100 or even just save and wait to buy certain pieces you will be alot happier with your purchase.

I did some more looking around in the stores today. Decided to go for a 7.1 Receiver with at least 2 year warranty. The Yamaha models look pretty good and maybe Polk speakers
