As I stated in my first post on this thread, I have not heard these particular Yamaha speakers; and I did indicate that what I was saying was my own opinion, and should therefore be treated with due skepticism. I don't know how much more honest and upfront I could have been.
My apologies to you Sheep if I've stepped on your toes, or trashed your beloved Yamaha speakers. That was not my intent.
However, I do stand behind my statements. I (me, myself, personally) have NEVER heard a Yamaha, Sony, Pioneer or other major conglomerate's speakers that I though worth MY money. That doesn't mean that they wouldn't be worth your money, or someone else's money... just not MINE.
I know what I like, and to date, I've not found it with those speaker lines. However, having said that, I did indicate that I had not personally heard the models that were being questioned. I was just trying to point out a potential pitfall with such products... and indicate my own personal history with such products. I hate to see people throw away their hard earned money on cheap junk (in my opinion).
Now, I'm not trying to upset anyone, and if you don't agree with me, that's fine... but don't tell me that I have a bone to pick with a company when you don't know me. If you check other posts on this board, and others, you'll see that I do favorably mention Yamaha receivers. I've nothing against the company.
Just for the record I have listened to lots of different speakers: B&W, Canton, Boston Acoustics, Klipsch, Soliloquy, Hales Design Group, Apogee, Martin Logan, Linn, Rega, Joseph Audio, Vienna Acoustics, Definitive Technology, Magnepan, Alon, Dahlquist, Energy, PSB, Phase Technology, Sonus Faber, ESS, Advent, Polk, Monitor Audio, Warfdale, Paradigm, Infinity, KEF, Snell, NHT, Revel, and Wisdom Audio all come to mind. In fact, I put myself through college selling mid to high end audio/video gear. So I think I do have sufficient background to have formulated an opinion. Thus I do not care for the insinuation that I have been limited in my exposure to a variety of speakers... though I readily admit that there are many speakers out there that I've not had the opportunity to audition.
Let's all keep in mind one thing... it's an opinion. You're welcome to yours, and please allow me mine!
