Hello everybody!, i'm new here.. First of all, i'm from Argentina so sorry if my english sucks.

i'm getting my first audio system, and my options are VERY limited here..
The idea is a 5.0 system (later 5.1) for movies, gaming and some music (in that order).

I have already ordered the receiver (yamaha rx-v475), so my next step are the floor speakers.

My options are:
Jamo C 605 (U$S 643)
Infinity P 363 (U$S 765)
Yamaha Ns-555 (U$S 799)
Polk Audio Tsx440 (U$S 840)

Aaand those are my budget possibilities.. Later i have to buy the center and surrounds.

My first choise were the infinity primus 363, but then i read the review saying they are 4 ohms speakers, and i don't wanna harm my first receiver!

What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance!

Xavi,
Welcome to the forum.
According to Crutchfield (http://www.crutchfield.com), an A/V company I have found very reliable, the P363s are 8 ohm speakers. I believe the review is wrong. In all the articles and forum discussions I have seen, I do not recall anyone complaining about P363 being 4 ohm or giving the receiver a hard time.
Cheers,

Is the Pioneer FS 52 available there? If yes, they would be my first pick. Linking Amazon.com just to show which speaker I'm talking about.

+1 on the Yamaha ns-555

Thanks for the welcome!
that's true, i haven't seen any complaints about a real consequence in this matter.
the infinity certainly it's still a good option

They're not, my only options are in the list of the 1st post :(
I could search for another provider for other options, but i doubt finding those pioneer.

On the other hand, i been reading very good opinions about the polk Tsx440.
Someone have any experience with them?

Thanks everybody!

I will take the Infinity over the Polk.

Do not under estimate Jamo

Are there any providers for JBL speakers in your area?

i think i saw some Jbl Es 90, but they're out of my reach.
From jamo i may be able to get the S606(1030$) instead the s506 (643$) if they're better than the other options and really worth the extra cost.

I've also seen some "Pure Acoustics Supernova 8 (760$)", but never heard of them.

With the Jamo I would get the best that you can afford

I like the higher level JBL's - however, I would still take Infinity over the entry level ES series.

Something like this: s506>infinity>s606?

I've used the P362 on a $200 Denon AVR in my 18' x 20' x 12' room without any kind of problems at all. So it just depends on the volume and listening distance. I wouldn't worry about it.

My room is quite small and the volume is high only during movies.
it seems to be that the infinity primus are harmless after all, regardless of its impedance.

what i've noticed, is that the infinity primus is worth about the half of the other options in some places like amazon, in here is equally expensive than the others.

Yeah. Think about it. These Infinity speakers were made for the general mass market. They are among the cheapest you can get. Most people here in the US can buy these speakers brand new for $200-$300/pair.

Do the Harman speaker engineers expect people to spend $1K on AVR + $1K on amps to power some $300 speakers? :D Probably not.

But anyway, I've owned the P362 and powered them with the cheap $200 Denon AVR in my family room. No sweat.

Strangely, in here no one recommend the infinitys, most people tell me to buy Jamo (s506/s606), polk (tsx440/ RTi A5/A7) or yamaha even (Ns-555/Ns-777). But i have to say, so far, the 363 seem to be at least as good as the others, if not better.

This could have been much easier if i had the possibility to try the speakers before buying... But sadly, i live in a place where the only chance of purchasing this stuff is online.. :(
So, my only hope is to trust your experience and the reviews! :p

Thanks guys!!!

I'd say Jamo>Inifinty P363> Yamaha/Polk - the later two both not worth considerations.
Good review of C 605: Use google translate from polish to spanish

i've seen 3 different options from jamo, C605-s506-s606, the first two are quite cheap, the s606 on the other hand is a little more expensive, and has a really aggressive look.
which one would you say is the best choice among them?
And thanks for the review!

I would go with the C series speakers - the best C series that you can afford

I would go Infinity or Jamo.

I trust the 4ohm measurements on the Infinities and I do not trust the 8ohm rating at all.
