I need the forums expertise in helping my decision between either the Aperion Intimus 5B Fusion SD or the Hsu Enthusiast 2 package. Recommendations on an appropriate avr for one or the other would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, for any help u all can give me.

I'd think the Aperion system would edge the HSU system out. The Aperions are quite inefficient so I'd probably go with the HK254 or Onkyo 606 for an AVR under $400. The Yamaha 663 and Pioneer 1018 are also good picks, but won't push as many watts into 7 channels.

The Aperion subwoofers won't be as good as the HSUs, and the HSU speakers won't compare favorably to the Aperions.:D

Aperion has an excellent no risk policy with free return shipping (not sure about HSU). If you are interested in Aperion you should give them an audition, you have nothing to lose. Aperion has really long warranty's on their products as well.

Thanks!

I wanted to thankyou for taking the time for the good advice. Im an older retired veterinarian and not kept up with the new speakers. These will be for a HT around my plasma with not a lot of room ie. need smaller size speakers for placement. I have very high ceilings and the focusing of the sound is important. These two seemed to fit the bill. For serious music listening i STILL use my old Mirage M-1s and still love their musicality after over three decades lol. If u have any other speakers for mostly HT please let me know. Again, thanks to for your and this formums help.

Rob, there are lots of good speakers out there. If you are like some of us and obsessed with finding the 'best for you' we can give you a long list to check out.

Axiom and AV123 are a couple of other ID companies to check out. Jamo is getting a lot of love on this forum lately. PSB (the specs on the new Imagine line look very good for the pricepoint), Paradigm (Studio)...

Free shipping on the Aperions makes them easy to try out in your home.
