What height should be kept for rear surround sound speakers, specifically if I have to wall mount them and they are direct radiating speakers.

Anywhere from 1' to 2' above ear level if possible, the point of surround speakers is to provide ambient audio information, (i.e. a plane flying by from LT to RT) you should hear it going from LT to RT without being able to "pin-point" it to any direct speaker.

Hope that helps :D

Hi John,

See attchd (u,ve seen this before), I would mount the RS speakers on the side wall 2-3 feet above the ear level and for LS I do not have a side wall and will use the back wall mount to direct it towards the RS spk.I do not have space on the back of the sofa.

My only question is that should I be facing the direct radiating speakers towards the people( in green)/eachother or towards the TV (red). Would a better ambient surround sound be created if I face them towards the TV.

Was there any way to change the seating, like I posted before, or is that out of the question? If you can't change the seating, I would go with facing them towards the green.

thanks, whereas it looks possible by looking at the layout diagram, but practically its difficult to change the seating. Although I am trying to shift the TV a bit to the left so that the picture comes in straight line of sight (as much as practically possible, see attchd). Does that change the speaker setup in any way, just asking out of curosity.

No it shouldn't change the speaker layout much. Just remember that the surrounds should be faced towards the listening position (in your situation).

Also, have you thought about switching living positions? Swap sides? Take the table to the TV side and the TV to the Table side? It might work out better, however, I don't know the layout of your home.

Good luck
