So I am in the process of researching for my HT (roughly 20x45 with 9ft ceilings) but there are so many freaking options I can't think straight.

First off, my wire is already run through the walls and it is 14ga. Longest run of wire is probably about 35ft. I like the Polk Lsi15's for the fronts (3 and 10 ft runs) but I have read elsewhere that they need more the 14ga wire and also may REQUIRE a separate amp to drive them. DO I need larger than 14ga for these speakers and an amp or is there a receiver that can handle them all by itself? Center probably Lsi as well. The surrounds will most likely be Klipsch ws-24 simply for aesthetic reasons. And finally are two epik empire subs overkill if I can go with the Lsi15's?

14ga wire is fine. Those speakers being 4 ohm and having a sensitivity of 88db should be externally amplified. A rec'r with pre-outs would seem to be in order. That's my opinion but I took smart pills today.

Don’t worry about overkill for your room, you need it. You definitely want something like the dual Empires for the best, visceral, HT experience. The powered woofs in the LSi 15s won’t cut it alone. As Alex said, the 14 ga. is fine. To power the setup, a Denon 3310 & Emotiva XPA-3 combo can be had for around $1,400.

Empires? If I don't know what you are talking about, there's a chance he doesn't either.

The need of an external amplifier may not be necessary depending on the receiver chosen. The Onkyo TX-NR1007, for example, would work quite well with those Polks.

I also believe that 14g wire is fine but if it really bothers you it is pretty easy to pull another size wire through already wired walls.

also I already have a Denon 2310 which powers a much smaller setup but I really like it. So I also like the idea about the denon 3310 and amp proposed by AVRat.

Your wire size is fine... just remember that a gain of 3db requires you to double the amplification power. Long story short... get a powerful receiver and you'll be alright =)

imo definitely. SVS MTS 02, upcoming Ascend Tower, Emotiva 8.3, PSB Image T6, Axiom M80, EMP e55ti, Aperion 6T, Revel F12, Magnepan MMG, Zaph SB Acoustics kit, Focal 705V, are all a few speakers I would certainly look into if I were you. However some of the above are still rather demanding loads. that is also a sweet price point for well discounted used gear.
