Joe, snowboarding is hazardous based on one's level of skill and visual awareness, not hearing ability. Yes, they are illegal to wear in cars, but that is like comparing apples to elephants.

E-6, like sheep said, those things are a little too big - and expensive - for my needs. But thanks anyway for making a reasonable suggestion instead of scrutinizing the outrageous and unspeakable thought of... *gasp*- snowboarding with headphones. :eek:

Sheep, those koss ones are adjustable to fit various ear sizes, right? I'm going to pick up a pair and try them out. Even if they don't turn out to be good for boarding (or maybe they'll work too good, and i'll kill an unsuspecting skier like joe), They should still make a nice pair for the PC or PLD. And for $20, you can't go wrong. Thanks for the idea, and for trying to talk some sense into those stuborn posters out there.
The Koss cans are single clip on headphones. I have big ears, and they fit me. Unless you're an elephant, you should be alright.

All they need is a little bass boost (IMO) and they sound fantastic.

Skiers are on the same slopes and we don't wear headphones. I suppose being totally self centered and completely selfish just doesn't wash with skiers. The me first and to hell with everyone else attitude is why a large majority of skiers don't have a lot of respect for boarders.:cool:
Bless you Joe! You're keeping me warm with your blanket statements.

Hey, Stevie;
I'm a fellow boarder, and I like using Shure earphones. They are light, the sound rocks, and the cords are designed to hang over the top of your ears, so they don't pull directly on your ear canal(ouch). They aren't cheap, but good sound usually isn't. By the way, ignore all the two-plankers dissing you for wanting on-slope jams. I've been boarding since 1989, and I've never hit anyone. Ninety percent of collision avoidance is visual, if not more. Just always pay attention to your blind side over your shoulder, and ride faster than everyone. :D

I have those headphones too! They're not as good as the Koss ones, and 10 times the price.

I've been hit on the slopes by an errant boarder. A functionally unconscious driver hit me on my bicycle. I can't count the times an inattentive driver has almost hit me while I was riding my Honda. I'm against anything that takes your concentration away and isolates you from the world and its sounds when you are dealing with others at any speed above walking. Those that hit me get sued. I am looking at a new TT. I just hope I will be able to get up and walk to the stand after the next selfish inconsiderate person hits me.:D

Maybe you should move. I mean, all the drivers are out to hit you, and all the snowboarders want to grind your spine, using your logic it's the only thing possible.

One color doesn't paint all.

My point is that if you are wearing headphones you are not aware of the whole world around you. Careening around in public at anything faster than a walking pace with headphones on is selfish and inconsiderate.
The woman that hit me was using a cell phone. The snow boarder was wearing a pair of Grado SR60's. I sued both and won.:D

A cell phone is WAY worse then headphones. It takes up an arm, and you have to listen to them, and talk back.

Fudge, when I drive the stereo is so loud its basically like headphones, and I have a clean driving record.

Your points don't hold water.
