So .... final comparison ..... decided to buy 3 models to compare

which one do you predict a winner?

Why avoid the best-sounding box in class (because it has the best room correction system), the Anthem MRX 300/500/700.

Or the Sherwood R-972, which while older is the only other AVR with a good room correction system, and is currently available for peanuts?

Other people may have different opinions about who has the best, if there is even a best, without some universally accepted definitions being stated. Just because someone says one is the best does not mean it is or isn't, it could just mean someone think it is, and that's just my opinion, not an expert opinion either. If the OP wants to find out my about such systems, I suggest he does his own research in addition to listening to what others are telling him.

Your so right...personal opinions are just that, opinions, what is good for some is not always good for another. I had the Yamy 3010 and the 4311ci in my home at the same time. Liked them both but kept the 4311ci, why, bets me maybe it was the xt32 over the YPAO but lately I just cancel out the xt32.

Perhaps, but some of you are simply wrong. And don't have enough experience to even know that you're wrong.

Question: who else here has actually compared ARC, Trinnov, and Audyssey room correction solutions on competently designed speakers? (And XT vs. XT32 is a distinction without a difference, as both still suffer from the crappily-designed speakers compensation notch compared to the better room correction options. Audyssey Pro vs. the others is a different story, because one can draw curves and delete-option that infernal notch. But an Audyssey Pro kit and license adds up to about as much as an Anthem MRX 300, and a lot more than the current price of a Sherwood R-972, so...)

Maybe i'm dumb....but I don't think so...

I personally do not like room corrections. I belive in speaker placement, treatments and good recordings. Every room correction system I have heard seems to make everything sound dull for my tastes...and no, I am not a "loudness" on kinda guy (but at 16 I was.) Guess I don't have enough experience to know what is right.

I can't stand RC either. I hate EQ/ DSP in general - including THX algorithm. Like you said, they just make the sound seem dull and congested.

Our brains know what sounds good to us. That's what matters.

I like my sound to be discrete (Stereo/DTS-HD/TrueHD, etc) and all RC/EQ/DSP bypassed.

My impression is that only the most expensive and sophisticated RC system is worth my time - the JBL Everrest RC system. But even then, I probably won't be able to tell a significant difference.

It just doesn't seem like you know what the heck you are talking about other than regurgitating things you might have read and played a little with.
