I recently decided to get Digital Cable HDTV. Anyways, I have a question with regards to set up. My TV has only one jack that allows for DTV and that is Video 5. All the other video jacks (video 1-4) do not allow for progressive scan etc... Thus to watch true digital tv I am forced to use Video 5. Currently my DVD player is connected with component cables to video 5 of the TV to allow for the 480p signal.
Here is the problem. If video 5 is already taken then how am I to hook up the DTV?
My thoughts:
What I think will work is this and I want to know if you agree. My receiver (onkyo) has 2 component Inputs and 1 Output. What I'm thinking is to send the DVD into Component In #1 and the DTV into Component In #2. Then from the Component Out of the receiver to the Video 5 DTV of the TV. Then when I want to watch a DVD I select DVD from the receiver and to watch DTV I choose Video 1 on the receiver (because video 1 on the receiver is set up to get the video from Component #2 In and audio digitally). Is this correct???
