HDMI woes?

I hope I'm in the right spot. I have a question concerning the new Onkyo TX-SR 608 Receiver.

Can I use the HDMI 1.3 cable to run the cable box, Xbox Elite and TV, or do I need the 1.4 cables. I'm getting a good picture, but no sound.

You must have the input assigned correctly on that receiver or you would not have a picture. Video and audio is selected at the same time on your receiver.

I suspect your problem is that yours and most receivers can not output audio via HDMI to the TV and receiver at the same time. To hear the sound from the speakers connected to the receiver HDMI audio out to the TV has to be set to off. See page 51 of your manual.

If this does not do the trick you have deeper problems, but this is not an HDCP issue or you would not have a picture.
