I am having issues with Snap Av binary HDMI extenders and denon avr 2113 & avr 1513. X-box switches thru 1513 and great picture. When I hook up Direct TV Gini DVR, DVR hangs up and has
picture without full color.
I will try a $200. Key digital balun and turn all auto video off.
This is frustrating!!!
I have learned not to use the EZ cat 5 RJ45's and went back to old style. also using cat 6 for longer runs.
AVR 2113 balun went out completely after direct TV guy was there adding receivers.
Any power up sequence with gear? Sources-Denon AVR- wait ---Display is what I was told.
Yesterday I did change to a key Digital 2 cat 5 Balun. It worked 90% of the day.( it stops working every night when the customer gets home)
Have ordered a Honeywell HDMI restorer.
Anyone know about the honeywell DAD? .

Are you just using HDMI over CAT baluns or are you using a HD-Base-T unit?

I strongly recommend that you give the Monoprice HDMI HD-Base-T units a try.

Single (not double) Cat-x cabling. I have personally tested it at 300 feet with a 1080p signal using 3 pieces of cat-5 cabling and in-line couplers. Ran the test pattern for four hours without it dropping out once.

I have not moved them into about half a dozen installations with excellent results, including my own home setup where they perform perfectly.

HD-Base-T and true derivitives of it are phenomenal.

I used several HDMI balun solutions with double cat cabling, and they all sucked. The Monoprice one worked reasonably well up to 1080i resolution, but could not handle (despite claims it could) 1080p.

It is strongly recommended that you use Cat-6a STP if possible. Monoprice has pre-terminated 6a STP cables available on their website.

This:
For only $180.90 each when QTY 50+ purchased - HDMI® Extender Using Cat5e or CAT6 Cable - Extend Upto 328ft

and this:
Cat6A STP (Shielded Twist Pair) Straight Cables - Monoprice.com

I spent several years going through half a dozen different solutions before I started using HD-Base-T and I will NEVER go back.

Yes, never use EZ-RJ-45 connectors for anything. It is better to terminate your cables to a punch down block and then use a pre-fabricated cable as well. Patch cables have a rated life of just a couple hundred insertions before they are spec'ed to wear out.

I am going to run a 50 foot ethereal HDMI today and will try this first, but I will look into these, thanks.
Have not heard of HD Base T units.
I am using very high quality baluns, but some can go up to $700. I am using a $200. one.
I want the least expensive balun or cable that works.

I have used monoprice before for inexpensive speakers. They sounded good for whole house.

I can not see more than 50 insertions on a problem system, but that is good to know.

If the run is only 50' then you should be fine with any high quality HDMI cable. I'm running a Monoprice 75' HDMI cable from my basement to my master bedroom without any problems at 1080i. I haven't tried 1080p at that distance, and likely won't go that high anytime soon, but it worked without issue for me at that distance. Not the most flexible of cables, but they work well. Don't overspend on the wrong product or on product which offers no improvement in quality. The absolute best HDMI HD-Base-T units, in my experience (not opinion), come from Pure Link. They are about $600 for the pair for the HTE Tx/Rx pair and it includes RS-232 control for serially controlled displays/devices. The Monoprice HD Base-T solution works very well though and is about 1/3 the price.

The flexibility is ridiculous on some of these cables. Right? Thanks again. The cable worked well. It has a chipset inside it that corrects some common issues. I have not tried 3D.
