Mr brother is hooking up a home theater system. He is running a new sony reciever, a new sony Up converting DVD player, and a new sony LCD TV and a Direct Tv DVR satlelite box.
He has his DVD player and cable box running HDMI to the reciever, He than has the Monitor out on the reciever going to the HDMI in on the TV. When he does this config all sound comes only from the TV speakers. I had to add an addition fiber optic cable to get his reciever to accept any sound. Is there a a method of hooking things up to only use the HDMI??

Here is the reciever

You need to find out if that receiver is HDMI 1.1 compatible. That is what you need as a minimum to use the digital audio from HDMI.
