I am currently looking for an HDMI receiver that has the following:

1080p support
THX
DTS
Dolby Digital

Also able to decode the DTS-HD and Dolby HD tracks on Blu-ray and HD-DVD discs.

Also what is the latest HDMI standard available on current receivers (1.1, 1.2, or 1.3)?

Thanks

The best you can hope for will be the ability to handle 1080P, DTS and Dolby digital while being THX certified. To the best of my knowledge no one supports Dolby HD or DTS HD yet. Also 1.1 is the best you'll find on any receiver right now. The Denon 4806CI and 5805CI are both really good choices if you can live without the Dolby HD or DTS HD support.

Hdmi 1.3

You will have to wait a year or two for receivers that support HDMI 1.3 and decode the new audio formats. Since there is limited media available an no players that fully support the new audio formats, it might be worth the wait.

If you want 1080p video, multi-channel Dolby True HD and DTS HD, you need to wait for HDMI 1.3 connectivity. Personally, I will not spend more than $100.00 or so for anything without HDMI 1.3. It's already cost me plenty to be an early adopter of HDTV - about $12K in 2002 for equipment that is now obsolete. I grant you that I am still enjoying the gear, but I'll sit this next round out until 1.3 comes along.

thanks a lot for all of your responses guys. They have all been very helpful. For now I am thinking of getting the Panasonic one just tide me over until 1.3 comes out.

However, are there any of these receivers that have more than one HDMI output? All that I have seen so far have only one HDMI output.

thanks

correct me if I'm wrong

but with the two new DVD players Blu Ray and HD DVD, don't THEY do the decoding and won't they send the new audio formats to your receiver ALREADY decoded via the 5.1 analog inputs??
