HDMI: does the cable itself matter?

Since it is scientifically impossible for two different cables that each transmit all the data properly, to produce different visible results, I'd have to say the placebo effect is working as well with eyes as it always has with ears.

...Dyson vacuum cleaners...
Dyson's f'n rock.

I actually borrowed a friends bagless vacumn and managed to break it because of stuff getting gunked up inside and had to use another vacumn to clean his out and then to get it working again. I ended up getting my wife a Dyson and it simply works the way it is supposed to. Properly engineered, light weight enough for her to get up and down stairs, power suction, good tools...

Most of all it just works and is incredibly easy to empty.

Are there likely good models for less money? Absolutely, but Dyson <> Bose for crap quality, and while the price may be a bit high, it isn't 3 times the price of truly comparible models.

Just my entirely off-topic two cents. ;)

The eyes don't have an exemption nor are immune from being fooled.:D

I bought a Dyson for my mother, and while not cheap, it does a great job and like BMX said is insanely easy to empty for her.

Totally off topic but I don't care. I bought a Dyson for my wife because she wanted one. I thought it was overpriced BS but I caved and bought it. Man, those things work better than any vacuum I have ever seen! We have two dogs and a cat and anything we had used in the past didn't pick up like the Dyson does. I only care because I just can't see equating Dyson to Bose.

The second you mention CR on an A/V website is the moment that everyone knows you have stopped being serious. ;)

I really just know what I've experienced myself... and somehow I got my wife a vacumn as a major holiday gift and she was excited about it... Bragged to her friend she got one - and her friend bragged in return she got one as well.

Works for me... Wish she came up with gifts that easy to get everytime.

Don't you love when they do all the thinking for you? Makes it so much less of a hassle when it comes to dealing with presents and such :D.

That's funny, because CR said the Dyson failed miserably picking up dog and cat hair. We've got a $230 Hoover self propelled bag type that does a great job and is 8yrs old. Bagless would be cool, but not at twice the price.

CR isn't a bad publication for most items. I disagree with them on a few things, but I think they get it right a majority of the time. Audio is one of those things many own, but are ignorant as far as quality/price go. The mighty advertising dollar has taken over audio - and now vacuum cleaners.
