I can state emphatically that there is a considerable difference in sound between the 16bit remasters from KISS and the HDTracks 24/96 downloads. It really is night and day. The 16 bit versions are almost unlistenably shrill - so much so that I've already replaced the entire catalog and dumped the CD versions on ebay.

OBTW, the new Bjork is available on HD Tracks. I gotta figure out how to get it, given I've already blown my music budget for the month (as per my coversation with the wife this morning).

Holy Crap!

I just picked up the new Bjork 24/96 off of HDtracks yesterday (shhh! she don't know about it ;)). Son of a gun that girl knows how to work out a system.

There was a study done and revelaed on this forum that the majority of listeners were unable to discern the difference between CD and high res music. Gene mentioned earlier (post or two up from mine) that he could only tell after the recording engineer tipped him off. Why go high res if CD handles it all.

BTW, I also voted vinyl as I find the listening experience extremely satisfying.
