Hi everyone, I'm new to the Forum. I just bought a 50" Sony Wega LCD. I have Adelphia cable and just had the cable card inserted to get the only three HD stations that Adelphia has at the moment.

One of the HD stations is ESPN. Every once in a while I get a small flash in the picture. Seems this just happens on the ESPN station. I also have a HD movie station. I noticed when the credits come up at the end of the movie the brightness of the letters goes up and down.

I have a pretty good surge protector connected and the Adelphia cables go into it. I have a surround receiver, a progressive DVD player a VCR and a CD player. All are connected correctly with component cable or s-video.

Are all these flashes and movie credit pulses from surges or is this typical of HD stations and I'll have to put up with it. I though maybe it as from running the cable through the surge protector, but that's why I bought it. Would running the cable directly to the VCR then to the TV rather than through the surge protector be better or could it be the cable card or the Sony itself?

Being new to all of this I want to learn as much as I can and get the best possible picture. Later I would like to also get a calibration disc.

All in all I the HD stations are very good. Some are better than others. Just need views and answers on these small reception problems.

Hope this is posted in the right forum.
