djoxygen,

I have a number of music Videos I recorded with the DVR from a Music channel.

Before the next Video starts, I quickly change channel to empty the HDD buffer and return for the start of the next Video.

During the live play, if I like it, I press the Record button and it picks it up from the start. I have more than a dozen of those and some are very nice to playback again and again.

The Audioholics Forum is the one I turn to for best audio recommendations. Therefore, I would like good comments on the following:

Given that the Toshiba HD DVD model HD-A1 delivers DD TrueHD and DTS-HD with 2 channel analog outputs,

And model HD-XA1 incorporates speaker setup, bass management and 6 analog outputs and delivers DD TrueHD and DTS-HD in 5.1 format (via the analogs)

Given that my Yamaha receiver does not incorporate HDMI nor DAC decoders for DD TrueHD and DTS-HD (therefore no lossless audio via digital connection)

Given that I have never listened to DVD-A (High resolution lossless audio) but use my DVD player more for Concerts than for movies,

Given that up to this point I enjoy DTS playbacks and DD both when audio mix is well engineered,

Would I miss something very important by selecting model HD-A1 over HD-XA1?

In reading the following article:
http://www.spannerworks.net/reference/10_1a.asp

I get the sense that lossy systems such as the present DD or DD Plus and DTS eliminate some bits of sound whereas lossless does not. But is it worth $200 more to make sure I get all the bits of sound?

EDIT: To be more specific:

I enjoy very much listening to the Eagles' "Farewell 1 Tour" and it is said it has a wonderful DTS engineered audio mix. From a scale of 1 to 10 (10 = greatest), how much more, in your opinion, would I enjoy the sound in DTS-HD? That is really the question.

This is like asking a member who enjoys listening to his DVD-A recordings and who also has the "Farewell 1 Tour" DVD,
- if that DVD Video would have incorporated DVD-A high resolution sound, would that have been priceless to you?

...hmmm,

well then, can a DVD-A lover who has recording:

Steely Dan "Everything Must Go"

tell me if the High Resolution in 5.1 multi channel rendition beats the DTS surround rendition (using in digital connection) by a long shot that would justify lossless DTS-HD over current DTS?

I play that particular DVD-A in my normal DVD player in DTS surround and love it.
