hi guys,

this is a bit of a general question. I was wondering, as i understand it HD audio be it DD-HD or DTS-HD, this is meant to be the same quality audio as the studio used during the recording correct ?? (ie they dont down sample to make it fit onto say a smaller disc like they do with a normal DVD movie or music cd)

in which case i was wondering if anyone knows the specs for the new hi def recordings, ie sample rate ??

Just curious thats all :D

The best answer is that there isn't a specific answer. The HD 'lossless' audio codecs aren't fixed into a single standard, so it is up to the studios that produce using the HD codecs how much bandwidth they want to use.

But, it's worth a read of each one to get a better understanding...

Seems that you can get levels that pretty much match what most studios are capable of producing for theaters and recording artists at this time.
