For those that did not see it a few days ago, the version went to 2.7 (for the A2 series)
And yes, it did speed up load times.
The only disc that I checked, LOL, was the disc currently in the player (Shrek 3).
It loaded that disc in about half the time it took prior (although I did not time it, this time)

Hope this news helps one of you fellows.

Duke, if you by chance see this. I am sending the update disc (2.7) along with your package.;)

Gasman, were you able to rip the ISO to disk? All of the software I tried crapped out and ruined 4 cd's. I spoke with Toshiba about an issue I am having and they suggested to burn the cd because it is not available yet for the player to download.

Am I nuts, or is the latest firmware 2.5? Where are you seeing 2.7?

2.7 was released on the Website on 11/13. The player is not getting the file yet through its autodownload. I don't know what the normal delay is from when they post the info to when the player will actually download the file.

when I click the link to download the .iso file, I only see an option for the 2.5 fw, not 2.7, even though the text at the top of the screen says ver. 2.7.

When you actually do the DL, the file says 2700 (or something like that) IT IS 2.7:)

Yep, ISO burn, no problems.;)
What software are you using? What media (CDs)?

EDIT, see pic. (version 2.7 dowloadable file)
Edit 2; For burning a (ISO) image file with Nero, the self explanatory pic should help.;) (the second pic)

Tried Nero 7,8 and Roxio and they all bomb right at the end and give me a failed error.

I even re-downloaded the file in case it was corrupted and no deal. Oh and I am using workstations so it is not due to lack of computing power:) and I have used buffer underrun protection.

What's with all the issues with guys downloading this over at AVS? There's over 700 posts, and a lot of issues now after downloading this firmware. Yikes! I may wait a week and see what happens.

HAS to be media issues, at this point.
What media are you using?
I have found TDK media does not work well in the Toshiba, but the Ritek media works fine.

Look at most of the join dates (or post count), are the majority new?
Would only show, that there are too many NEW owners that are not technically proficient enough to do a update.

Can't speak for anyone else Todd, but works great for me.:)

While I don't consider myself to ba a rocket surgeon or anything, I'm no dummy. I'm having a heck of a time getting the firmware to burn properly.
I think it is a software / media issue. I'm going to try it from work today just to see if it makes a difference.

Tried both Memorex and TDK. At least I know it is not the ISO.

I am hoping this will fix the issue that my A2 will not do 1080i after the last firmware. Seems it is not recognizing my prepro or display as being able to receive 1080i. I called Toshiba and actually had a good customer service experience and they want me to try the new firmware before they will service the player.

For those that are having issues with burning, PM me and I will send a working disc to you.
(of course with shipping costs paid, probably something like 0.90 cents for U.S.)

Only will offer this today, as I have a package that will be going out at 5:00 EST.

I used Memorex CD-RW to update my fw and had no problems.

Used Verbatium media when I went from 1.7 to 2.5... no problems. (I think the disc itself is made by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation IIRC)

What kind of issues are they having? Can they not burn the .iso file correctly, or are they having issues with their player after the update has been performed?

That's the same thing that happened to me with Roxio. I ended up wasting 3 discs trying to burn the thing. I'm not sure what type of discs they were; Maxell I think. I guess I'll try getting another brand.

Yeah, I would recommend to stay away from the CompUSA and Best Buy branded discs.
They are usually Princo discs, and are of VERY poor quality.
If you can get a disc that is Mitsubishi Chemical Corp. (which honestly could be almost any brand that does not make their own discs),
then I would suggest them.
But, finding them is like finding a needle in a hay stack.
(generally Verbatim does use MCC, but NOT always)
