Having trouble...

Alright. So I got my Onkyo 605 and I have everything going through HDMI to my TV and my PS3 works, but I cannot seem to get picture/sound for my Xbox 360 going into the receiver with component. I have them plugged into component IN and I assign the row its plugged in and go to it, but I still am not getting any picture. What am I missing here?

You may have to assign the input to transcode from component to HDMI in a separate part of the set-up menu, maybe a digital conversion option. I'm not familiar with the 605 specifically, but I'm pretty sure I have to do that with my Denon.

Well I'll look around for something like that. I go to "Component Video In" and assign it to "IN 2" and thats where the xbox is plugged in...and then I would just assume it would upconvert through HDMI out to my TV on Game/TV IN 2...but no dice. I'll toy around more.

Page 48 of the manual. You need to go into the HDMI input menu and set whichever input selector you are using for the XBox to '---'.

Okay... I have Game/TV HDMI input on IN 1 for the PS3...I go to Game/TV and the PS3 is there. I plugged the Xbox into IN3 for component and my friend switched the xbox from HDTV to TV on the cable and I get a visual...but I want it in HD, not 480i or whatever the TV is. Then I dont have sound...where does the audio for the xbox go and am I really screwed out of HD for my xbox unless I plug it into my TV??

I have audio, and picture in SD. From the looks of it, am I not able to transmit HD through component? I don't get ANY picture when I have my cable switched to HDTV on my xbox cord. I am hoping to god I am just over looking something. I can't stand to play my xbox in SD!

Go to the Input/Output Assign menu > HDMI Monitor > set to yes.
The condition you're describing makes me think that the HDMI Monitor setting is set to no.

Found problem. My res was set to 1080p through component when I had it hooked up to my TV. The receiver does not read the signal so I plugged back into my TV, bumped down to 720p and pluggd and then it worked fine.
