Have you seen the new Rotel RMB-1585 and RMB-1555 Amps?

Tow new amps from Rotel—the 5-channel 120wpc RMB-1555 and the 200 wpc RMB-1585. But get this: Rotel went back to Class A/b. Their previous generation amps were Class D. Good call? Bad call?

My interest was piqued up until the part where the 1555 weighs 31.6 pounds and is only rated into 8 ohms. That doesn't seem very impressive at the $1700 mark.

I'm with Steve. I loved the 1075 and 1095, but neither of these seem like a step forward from those and for a premium price. I think there are too many good amps out there in those price ranges and less for them to be aimed at anyone but Rotel fans.

Finally!

Unfortunately, the Class-D amps from Rotel got universally panned. Their previous, beefy A/B offerings were well-regarded as being great value propositions. It looks like they are getting back on track. Class D amps still seem to be hit or miss. The only ones that I've consistently read as being solid are the Bel Canto amps.
