If you haven't done it before, try out the Subwoofer Crawl. It's crude, but you can also learn a lot about your room and the way bass sounds as you change positions in your room. If you do this with an open mind and a good deal of patience, you should be able to figure it out. The first time I tried it it took me around an hour to do. The most helpful thing to me was crawling into and out of my worst corner. I really began to understand the differences in SQ with that. If you can, look for 2-3 good places where the Sub sounds it's best, remembering that loud isn't necessarily better.
Do the Subwoofer Crawl. It's the easiest way to find the proper placement location for your subwoofer to get the best performance and sound.

Once you do that and hopefully find a better home for your Sub(s), look at your setup for the mains. Do some reading on proper speaker placement for best sound. Little things you do in your room, what we sometimes call "positional EQ" are free and easy to experiment with.
When you find some good spots and get things setup, run your room correction. Try out the new setup in small sessions.
Have fun, and enjoy the process!
