Has Anyone Watched the 4K Ultra HD Atmos Version of Everything Everywhere All At Once?

Frankly, I had never heard of this movie before all the Oscar buzz and publicity.

Anyhow after the buzz about town the family want to watch it. Our granddaughter saw it in a cinema, not Atmos. There are only three Atmos theaters in the metro.

Anyhow, the reviews are in the main good, with a lot of praise for the Atmos track on the BD.

To me the plot sounds daft, but I will make my own judgement after viewing.

I have ordered the Ultra HD Atmos version and it should arrive at the end of next week. So, I'm wondering what I am in for. I don't watch a lot of movies and only have less than handful of Atmos discs.

So, I'm curious if any members here have watched this movie on a home Atmos rig, and what your opinions are.

I have not seen it yet, but it's in my loose mental queue. Unfortunately, I do not have a full blown Atmos rig aside from the up firing speakers in my LG soundbar (home theater is not all that important to me other than casual entertainment - I prefer spending my money and time on my 2-channel setup). The Critical Drinker has a nicely positive review here (no SQ specifics as that is not really his forté): The Drinker Recommends... Everything Everywhere All At Once - YouTube

Really enjoyed this one some time ago. It’s not for those who have trouble keeping up with frantic action and actors jumping into different versions of themselves. Video and audio presentation will vary per system but it looked and sounded good to me.

I wouldn’t recommend seeing any movie based on buzz and awards. The Academy hands out awards for many reasons. The best anything is subjective. Many times, movies are awarded for diverse and inclusive casting. Actors can be awarded an Oscar for sticking around for decades as much as for a single particular performance. Many underperforming films get nods to bump box office.

If a movie seems interesting to you, watch it for that reason and that reason alone. Many end up not liking best picture winners much.

It's a great film. I have only seen it in a Dolby Cinema however.

This one is now in my top 5 favorites of all time. I have watched it 3 times already. I would not say this film is for everyone though. I am actually a bit surprised that it won best picture due to some of the content. I found it to have an intelligent story (despite how the premise sounds) with great characters, though it does have a juvenile level "fart joke" type vulgar humor that some may find off-putting. In my book, it manages to pull it all together in a fun way and delivers in the end.

Sounds to me from that review, the script writer knows his Wagner music dramas. If you think about it the Ring Cycle is actually all about alternate universes.

If it were not for Richard Wagner, Hollywood would not have become what it is. His influence was colossal and continues to endure, and not just in the music, but also in transformation scenes and many other tricks. However he absolutely wrote the book on how to accompany drama with music. His influence in just about all film music scores is overwhelming and enduring.

I will review it after we all get a chance to watch it. I would have thought with all the buzz round here, that you guys with Atmos theaters would have grabbed copies long ago, as the discs have been available for a while. Form some reviews I have read, Dolby Atmos is essential to get the full effect of this movie.

The reality is that engineering Atmos properly is difficult and costly not only for the home, but for commercial operations. From my experience, which is limited due to lack of really good source material, Dolby specs have to be followed to the letter. This is because the audio is conceived from a totally different starting point. This is truly an object based mix. That means if the speakers are not where they are supposed to be, it is not going to work.

From my limited, and increasing experience the concept seems valid. This is the only audio playback system that I have encountered that can truly make the room seem a vastly larger space than it is.

Top Gun had AMAZING Atmos in the theater. The 4K disc however, did not get the same treatment for some reason. It won for best sound.

All Quiet on the Western Front was nominated for best sound and won for score. The score was awesome and the audio was very good, but I only watched it on Netflix. I will want to see how it is on disc.

The Atmos for Everything Everywhere should be good too and I looked at the disc as well, but haven't picked it up yet.

Really? That's disappointing. I watched it on Paramount Plus streaming, and the Atmos was very good.

As for Everything Everwhere All At Once, I watched it at home streaming, and I don't remember to be honest how good (or bad) the Atmos was.

It was a good movie. Not great IMO. I'd only watch it again if the wife wanted to (watched it with my son the first time). I was pretty surprised how much it cleaned up at the Oscars to be honest.
