Has anyone tried to exchange and engraved iPod?

Hello everyone, I need some help. I wanted a 60gb iPod, but instead my wife mistakenly purchased a 2gb Nano. Worse, she got it engraved which according to Apple's website means they cannot be returned. Anyone tried to exchange an engraved iPod before?

I'm pretty sure once something is engraved it's yours. Would you purchase something that said "To Gina with love" when your girl's name is Brenda?
