Has anyone heard both the Monitor audio Silver S6 and the new RS6?

I have had the S6 for almost 2 years and am very happy with them.
But I just found out that there is an RS6. It's been out for about a year and I didn't even know.

For anyone that might have heard both speakers, is their a significant difference worth upgrading? I am just psyching myself out now.

I talked to the dealer from where I bought the S6 and he says the difference is not huge. He said if I want to upgrade better to step up to the RS8 but that is out of my price range.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Sanjay from over at AVS?

Anyway, I have heard both and they sound the same. I believe they are only cosmetic differences. A close look at the specs would confirm this, but I am pretty sure. I didn't listen using a double blind method or anything, but again, they sounded the same. Unless you really love the new look, it is not necessary to upgrade.

As far as the RS8, sure it is nice, but I have read a few reviews which mentioned that the RS6 sounds better. Heck even Sterophile (or maybe it was HT magazine) said the RS6 sounded nicer than the RS8. If I were you, I would hang on to my RS6's. ;)

While I haven't heard the S6 or RS6 I have heard the S8 and RS8 side by side. They sounded the same to my ears with the same music. I'd keep the S6.

I must agree with the others - I have RS6s and have compared them with the R6s, but, except for cosmetics, couldn't tell the difference. If you can afford it, the Gold series is a serious upgrade, but they cost twice as much as the Silvers.
