What are your thoughts on this? We're considering but want to see what it's likeout there.

I do like HD and want as many channels as possible, except sports, but the "premium" channels are of secondary importance, save perhaps for HBO. Mrs W loves her Tru Blood and I like Boardwalk Empire.

Sure did and we have been very happy with it save for one thing. I don't like the way they list on demand movies. They are not listed alpha numeric. I don't know what system they use to catalog them but I use the search feature to get around it. I haven't used it in a while though so maybe it's changed... I just use search. Picture quality and speed is the same or better than comcast. The reason we changed was because our comcast internet kept going out if there was lightning in the area. With Brenda taking online classes this wasn't acceptable. We have had Fios for ~1.5years and it's gone out once for like a minute and that's it. the phone service has been good also. No problems.

Verizon FiOS is the only network that's actually all fiber, right up to the home.
My parents have it, and so does my brother, and they both like it.
My only complaint about all of Verizon is their billing; you have to keep an eye on it for any discrepancies and keep questioning them.

Brenda watches all billing like a hawk.:)

I went from Cox Cable to Fios and have been kinda ho-hum on the deal. Fios works, but Cox worked also. The speed appears to be similar, and the service is similar. Same POS Scientific Atlanta (Cisco) boxes for tuning. A fair list of additional channels that I don't care about, and the rest look similar to what I had been using already.

On the plus side, they did a solid job installing their router in place of the old cable modem and installing their boxes in place of the Cox boxes. Should be straightforward, I realize, but I have a seriously integrated system, so wasn't sure the guy would pull it off cleanly... Was happy he came really close and it all worked fine after I spent about 10 minutes getting the cabling dead on.

Yeah, but Cox >>> Comcast already. Well, at least 'round these parts, if you think Cox boxes are POS's, you should check out the TW stuff. I don't have any paid service, but I know of different people who have all of the above, and I've watched shows on all of them. TW is the worst, easily, IMO, in terms of service, quality, etc. I make no promises for the OP though.

I can't comment on Comcast but I went from Direct TV to FIOS and no way I'd go back. The FIOS picture quality is noticeably better and the bundled 35/35 internet included with my package rocks. Lots of HD channels and lots of free on demand show. The old 6416 and 7216 Motorola DVRs were kind of sucky but the latest Motorola 7232 DVR rocks - much more responsive and 3x the capacity.

The I can't say much about the Verizon router. You need to use their router because it feeds the STBs the channel guide but paranoid retired IT guy that I am I have my own router/firewall on my side of their router. I do know that their wireless routers only support 802.11b/g but 802.11n is supposed to be coming.

One thing to bear in mind with FIOS is they cut the copper lines going into the house when they install FIOS so that you can't go back to a competitor's DSL product. It didn't really bother me that much and it allowed me to plug my Ooma box into the phone jack and use it from every room in the house. You can't do that when still connected to Verizon copper because it interferes with their CO.

I went from Bright House ( used to br time Warner) to Fios. Way better picture quality, never any Internet issues. They did a clean and logical install in the garage with the tranceiver and also put new compression fittings on my cables at the splitter and at the outlets. I had lots of Internet connection issues with Brighthouse and HD channels pixalated alot.

I wish I could go to FIOS, but it's not available in my neighborhood. Comcast/Xfinity stinks in some ways, but I have also heard lots of bad things about FIOS too. I would like to have the option, however, but I assume that they are not planning on much expansion, since Verizon is now promoting some phone-internet-satellite-TV hybrid that defies the promotion about the one-fiber virtues of FIOS. I guess it's no more perfect than Comcast.

Thanks for the input, guys.

I' currently satisfied with my "triple play" service fro Cocast and don't feel too ripped off by the price but it's that tie of year where I must renegotiate a price for the upcoing year. This becomes tiresome but now that Fios as arrived in my area, at least now I have a barganing chip which I now know can provide service of at least the same quality and, I'm sure, at a better price for a new convert.

Well, if you can get the same channels and speeds for less, not concerned about letting your email address change hence notifying all your contacts, then it should not be too hard to decide. ;):D

I went from Comcast to FiOS and will never go back.
The difference of the FiOS HD picture compared to Comcast is like night and day.
