I've calibrated mine using both the older Video Essentials and Avia. I like Avia better for ease of navigation thru the chapters on the DVD. Since both the Avia and older VE were geared toward teaching you how to calibrate a CRT they are perfect for this set. It's very easy to do, just follow the DVD instructions. My only tip is to calibrate for each input type and use one of the 4 available picture modes on the set to save the calibration for each input. For example: I have "pro" picture calibrated for Component Input (DVD and HDTivo). I have "normal" calibrated for my s-video source. I haven't done this yet, but since I only use two modes I might use "vivid" and "movie" to have a second calibration for each input type I use for higher ambient room light for those times when I have guest over and the lights are turned up higher in the room.
