a few months ago I bought a HK pa2400 power amp off eBay.
It worked great for 6 was then it stopped powering up.
I haven't had time to take it in to service but wondering if it is just a blown fuse and something I can replace myself.
Anyone know what kind of fuse it might use? I have the service manual but Im not experienced at reading schematics etc

Has multiple fuses, primary AC line fuse is a 8A/250V 3AG type.

Just my $0.02.. ;)

I bought the correct fuses, but so far, they've blown out, twice, when I plug it in and turn it on. The lights come on for a few seconds, then it goes off. The first time I plugged it into a power strip with other electronic stuff, the second time in the wall...should I get some kind of nicer powerstrip/surge protector?

Your unit is damaged and needs to be looked at. Since the fuse blew again, there is likely a short somewhere and I would not recommend continuing to try to use it. A surge protector isn't going to fix that.
