Ok a more advanced question then.
Here is my setup and problem, I have my desktop PC setup in one room, with my receiver/system/plasma setup in another room. I have a DVI to HDMI cable connecting my plasma to my computer, with my plasma set to function as an extension of my first desktop monitor.
Currently when I play movies I open it on my desktop in one room, then drag the screen to the other plasma, then maximize and play it on my plasma. I initially would begin playing movies and take my wireless keyboard to the plasma room and use it to pause/play movies etc but had problems with controlling Windows Media Center that way bc there was poor direct line of site between my PC room and my plasma room (so keyboard function sucked). So then I purchased one of those gyration RF remotes with the hopes of making it my universal remote to also control my PC. It works great in the sense that I can use it as a mouse to maximize/minimize/go through menus from the plasma room but it falters when I try to use it as a universal remote (I tried programming it with my receiver and cable box and there are a few very key commands that I am unable to customize it for). Hence it is useless in that area. With the gyration remote I still would have to start movies from my desktop room and drag it to my plasma, but functionality after that was fine via mouse control.
What I'm ultimately trying to do is have a setup where I do not have to walk into my desktop room to start/control/maximize/pause/play a movie but at the same time still have a setup where I can use my desktop PC as a regular office PC when I'm in that room, with my hinderances being no direct line of site (though I have an IR repeater). What am I missing and how can I accomplish this best?
