I'm new to this forum and I wanted opinions on the H/K 460i reciever or H/K recievers in general.

I was satisfied when I switched to this reciever and really noticed a difference in sound quality. My stereo consists of a Pioneer CD player & EQ set up with the 460i and a pair of Boston Acoustics CR-6's.

I am looking to upgrade my CD Player & EQ. I would appreciate any recommendations or insight on other makes and models or anything that might benefeit the overall sound.

Would anyone suggest using the 460i as a pre-amp?

You could learn some more info about HK from reading this thread:

Although it may not contain specific info, it will give you an idea of how they are received. My HK that I ordered off eBay is coming tomorrow so I am pumped :)

I checked out the model you are referring to and it is an older one. I think that it should work fine, although I'm a bit concerned that it doesn't have binding posts... I don't think it matters much but it is something to think about if you are running heavy gauge wire. Do you have one now or are you looking to buy one?

Hmm... maybe I came to the wrong forum, my HK is an 80's stereo reciever, not a home theater/surround sound one and my focus is stereo audio and vintage audio.

I can't say personally, but I think there are some folks here that can help. Give it a day or two, we don't get a lot of activity this late and we don't have a huge amount of members like some other forums. I believe your questions will be answered soon.:)
