I've been sitting on the edge of my seat waiting for HK's new digital path receivers to come out for several months now. Finally, and I do mean FINALLY, the DPR 1001 is available. However, I'd really been wanting to get the 2001. According to my sources, the DPR 2001 won't be available until December though. I'm not sure if I can wait that long. There are several reasons I want to get the DPR 2001. First, it's cheaper than the only equal HK receiver, the HK7200. Second, it's got no fan like the HK525. Third, it's got twice the power of the HK525. Fourth, it has digital amplification, which just sounds good. I'd like people's thoughts on these new line of receivers from HK. What do you think? Have you heard the DPR 1001? If so, how'd you like it? Would you consider buying one? Is it as good or better than the HK525 or even the HK7200? I hope there are some people that can give me some answers. I've scoured the net for information and come up dry. The price difference between the DPR1001 and what the DPR2001 should be isn't significant enough to detour me. I just wish the latter was available. I was able to visit a Circuit City yesterday, which just has to be the only place you can find HK stuff at in the brick and mortar world, and upon asking about it found that they actually had the DPR1001. They didn't have the HK7200 though. I asked to hear it, but the guy couldn't get it working right. Apparently, some idiot there had gone behind everything and rewired it. The guy I was talking to seemed really ticked about it. Everything was screwed up and not working right. I can just imagine the fun whoever that was going to have to fix it was going to have. This is probably the most competent person I've ever met at a CC or similar store. They usually seem to employ people from the shallow end of the gene pool. Anyway, I wasn't able to listen to it myself, but I'm hoping someone here's heard it. I won't be able to visit CC for a while now. I live too far away from the nearest one.
