That HK will get you a bit more ACD (not too useful in real world) power but still can't compare to that of a 5 channel Emotiva power amp. If you are going to add an external amp that what is the point? I agree with others suggestions that you are better off with one that has the features you need/want.

Well one main thing was the new surround formats and dolby volume but some say you cant tell a diffrence in those formats unless you have really high end speakers so im thinking is it really worth getting rid of my avr 635 to go to the 7550 or maybe i should just upgrade speakers instead and get seperates later i am kind or worried about getting this reciever without a warranty despite the features.

If you have a BD player that has 7.1 analog outs you can use the 635 and still get the HD sound codecs. I doubt the 7550 will give you much more power than the 635. My guess is that it may be about the same or slightly more. HT mag bench tested the 630, it had less power output than the Denon 3805 but still exceeded what they specified. Overall I thought it was a good AVR and on the audio side the 7550 does not seem like an upgrade to me at all.

Wow your right every denon ive heard you allways gotta crank the volume all the way up to get decent sound and in the store i never had to do that with a harman kardon but on paper your right it does have a little more power it looks like speakers is the way to go !

My issue with the video processing was quite valid. An owner can't disable the video processing on HK's midrange receivers.

Hey guys i have a question i have my hands on the denon 4308ci and just got a onkyo 3007 for 759 brand new but ive heard the onkyo has alot of issueslike ive also noticed just turning the unit on it heats up with no speakers hooked up and i was wondering with this much heat do you think the reciever will breakdown prematurely and the heat seems like it strickly comes from the back where all the audio and video boards are located does anyone have opinons what to keep between the two ?

The HK 2600, 3600, 360, 460 and 7550HD ALL use FET switching in the video bypass mode, NO video processing is done and the Torino processor is totally out of the video signal path..

Just my $0.02... ;)

What happens with processing/scaling when the video mode is set to Off rather than bypass?

Thanks! :)
