I guess I'm still in the stone age as I still record to a vhs/vcr..but I'm hoping to improve the picture quality by picking up a hdd recorder for the TV shows we like to watch. I've read that many of the hdd recorders have a problem with sat. dish compatability. If it wasn't for the monthly fee I would get Tivo or something similar but I have a problem paying apprx. $120/yr to watch a few TV shows. We have an older Direct TV receiver(no chance to get cable where we live!) and all I want to do is record the 3 or 4 shows we watch on a regular basis along with football games....is a hard disc recorder the way to go? I doubt I will save anything after viewing it so I really don't see myself archiving anything to dvd's. Can anybody suggest a unit with fairly easy user interface...I can handle about anything but this is important for the WAF.
