Seriously, happy holidays, everyone! Be safe and have a great time. Is anyone here going to be hosting their first Thanksgiving? I won't be hosting, but I'm thinking about making a real Thanksgiving meal for the first time. I know that Niki would like that. Then again, based on what she snacks on while we're walking, I probably don't have to put much effort into it...

Despite those photos , I will eat and enjoy pumpkin pie tomorrow!

Tonight I have to pick up the bird, put it in the brine mix overnight, and tomorrow (weather permitting) smoke it over apple and cherry wood. If its still raining, I roast it in the oven the usual way. If you have to ask, brining a turkey is the absolute best way to avoid dry tasteless turkey. Its a lot easier that I first thought it would be.

I'm going to deep fry a turkey tomorrow.
Just can't beat the 3 to 4 minutes per pound cooking time.
It comes out nice and juicy too, even the white meat.

Swerd, smoking a turkey sounds good.
What kind of a smoker do you have?

It would probably be unprofessional of me to talk about it.

Just a case of a manager who's out to get ya. I was actually fired by a manager that I've never worked with and given a long list of complaints. Which is weird, because I've never worked with said manager.

Have a safe and Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!!! One thing I am thankful for is that my Mom obviously has been given more time. As such, I am going there to spend some time with her tomorrow. So kudos to all of you that offered prayers during this difficult time. I can NOT thank you all enough. Also, please remember those that are serving this great country of ours. It would be most appreciated.

Thanks a bunch Maz for your support. You be sure to have a Happy Thanksgiving yourself. I am very thankful that I get to spend some time with my Mom. This time last year I was not too certain I would get to. Needless to say, I am forever grateful.

I use a standard 18" Weber smoker.

Be careful with that deep fryer. Is it the kind with the big bucket of hot oil over an open propane fire? Every year some poor guy ends up with 3rd degree burns because of his turkey fryer overflowed.
