handshaking issue w/ HDMI audio between Rotel 1069 and Oppo bdp 83

Anybody out there experiencing any problems w/ HDMI audio handshaking between The Rotel 1069 and Oppo Bdp83? I was able to pick up audio using an Optilink 5 by audioquest which is great but is just pisses me off that they are not compatable!! using All HDMI.

Are you absolutely positive that it's between these two items, and not with display? IOW, a different bdp was working just fine, for instance?

I had an issue that I thought was the player, but I contacted Oppo and they said it was a handshake issue and told me to simply disconnect and reconnect the Oppo and it worked. Worth a shot, but based on that link it seems that you may have a more deep rooted issue.

I like AQ, but their optical cables are ridiculously priced.
