Calling all ham radio experts!
I'm interested in acquiring a transceiver to be used in case of an emergency. It seems like the 2-meter band or some form of battery operated ham transceiver is the way to go.
However, I know virtually nothing about the ham radio world, requirements, hardware or otherwise. I'm looking for some guidance or references to research in order to educate myself. Any help for an abject beginner is very much appreciated.
