Anyone else miss the Half-Life series?
Not saying it was the best game or anything like that. Just that I always looked forward to the next one coming out.

Valve just keeps re-using the same code to make similar games. L4Dead, Half-Life2, Portal, Counter Strike - all the same game. I'm waiting for them to ditch the Episodes on the back of Half-Life 2 and just make a Half life 3, instead of Half Life-2, Episode 3.

The source engine was designed from the ground up to be a long term engine for Valve games. It's 6 years old now and I agree that it needs some updating. I believe the engine was made to be modular so they can rewrite certain parts of it without having to completely redo everything. From what I've seen the engine is pretty comparable to what is being released these days though. If you look at the frostbite technology that DICE used for Bad Company 2, the physics and particle effects are similar to the Source engine.

I remember playing through Half Life 2 and just feeling immersed in this amazing game. I haven't played a FPS like that since.

The Half-Life series has been pretty remarkable with Half-Life, Counter-Strike and one of the best games ever made Half-Life 2.

Its a great series, I still have them all and fire them up now then when I feel like shooting stuff. Sounds great in the Logitech 5.1, and they always run great on my aging desktop and looks good on the 24 inch monitor.

HL2:E3 is turning into the new Duke Nukem Forever.

This is getting out of hand!
