Hello,

I'm a noob and have few questions. Before I post my question below are the details of the equipment & current settings.

1. Denon 1911 AVR
2. Polk TSi 500 pair (front)
3. Polk TSi 100 pari (Surround)
4. Polk CS 10 (Center Channel)
5. Polk DSW 660i powered sub-woofer

All Speakers set to 'Small'
Cross over frequency : 80Hz
Bass setting: LFE
Channel level is 0db

I have a large hall sound escaping in all directions. Could you please suggest proper settings which needs to be used. Auto calibration has been done. I have been through the various posts but not able to find required answers. So please suggest good settings, I will try. Thanks in advance.

Do you mean you have a large amount of echo (excessive reverb)?

Most of the problem is going to be attributed to the room. Lots of hard surfaces (such as tile) and sparse furnishings allow the sound to bounce all over the place and the 'echo' type effect is caused by the indirect sound (bouncing off walls at the first reflection point and floors, etc) hitting your ears before the direct sound.

You can add rugs and move the furniture around a bit to alleviate it somewhat but most likely you'll need to treat the room, especially at the first reflection point.

But make sure the receiver is not in some kind of DSP mode like 'Hall' or 'Concert' because they basically suck - use a straight mode that matches the format of the disc (DD/DTS) or ProLogic II Movie/Music if matrixing 2 channel to 5.1. PLII Music lets you customize some parameters and may help.

You might also want to check the results of the auto-setup manually, particularly what it decided for the distances from each speaker to the prime listening position. If they are off it could contribute to the echo sound.

Echo is not a problem I think I need to know more about the settings.

Bass setting is LFE @ 110Hz should I make any changes here. Thanks for your reply I will try the things you have mentioned.

You could bump the LFE to 120 Hz, otherwise everything else seems good. How does it sound to you?

I forgot to mention tone level for all the speakers is default 0 bd including the sub. Should I need to change these settings to -/+ 3db.
